Medical Research

The increased longevity of humans over the past century can be significantly attributed to advances resulting from medical research.  Medical research can be divided into two categories.  The evaluation of new treatments in clinical trials, and the development of new treatments through preclinical research. As part of Dr. Bolton’s treatment, he participated in clinical trials during the final stages of his illness. 

One way we as individuals can assist in the furthering of medical knowledge is through whole body donation:

Dr. Jack Alvin Bolton, Jr. chose to return one last time to medical school following his passing so many could learn about the devastating effects of cancer on the human body.  There are many whole body donation programs, some of which are described in the sites below:
